Data Protection

What is the GDPR?

On 25 May 2018, the new General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) from the European Union come into effect. The GDPR deals with the protection of EU citizens’ personal data citizens whether it is collected inside or outside the EU. To learn more about the GDPR, you can read the following:

What personal information do you share when you visit Manner of Speaking?

So what does this all mean for you when you visit Manner of Speaking? When you visit, you share personal information either actively (e.g., a comment) or automatically (just by visiting).

Automattic, the web development company that created (the platform I use to run this blog) has prepared a helpful Privacy Notice for visitors to sites such as this one.

Jetpack, the company that posts ads that you might see on this site from time to time has also prepared a Privacy Information policy that applies to this site.

Both the Automattic and Jetpack policies are part of this site’s policy. I encourage you to read them. They set out the information that is collected from visitors whether they provide it themselves (e.g., name, email address, website) or automatically (e.g., IP address, browser type, unique device identifiers). They also explain how Automattic and Jetpack use this information.
