Tom Peters - American Writer on Business Management
I remember Tom Peters from the 1980’s. I attended one of his business seminars. The platform was bare with just a stool. What a speaker.
“Leadership is a verb not a noun”

I’m sure that it was a great talk. Thanks for the comment, Thomas.
An excellent quote from an inspiring man. I like how the picture has an embedded link to Tom Peters site and his blog roll. I remember first reading “In search of Excellence” in 1991, and then three books about empowerment in the workplace. It’s not what you say, it’s what you repeat. Tom Peters had us repeating excellence, empowerment, and being proactive in our jobs and in our lives. Tom Peters would be an interesting biography as he has been the enzyme to spur uncounted lives and companies to improvement and success. I am spurred on to practice my speech for Tuesday, and enjoyed thinking of Tom Peters and checking out his website.
David, thanks very much for sharing your thoughts. Peters has, indeed, inspired many people with his practical and profound insights. Glad that you enjoyed the quote and the link to his site.
Great quote. I first saw a video of Tom Peters speaking back in the mid-1980’s. He is fantastic. I heard a story once from someone who had seen Peters speak before he was famous. He said that Peters used overheads and was very boring. He went on to say that Peters would videotape his speeches to help himself become better. I believe Peters lived the words of this quote. When I first started speaking, I modeled my style after Peters. He deeply influenced who I became as a speaker.
Thanks for sharing that, Harley. It is an excellent reminder of how watching / listening to ourselves on tape, uncomfortable though that may be, is an extremely effective way of improving our performance on stage.
