“The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.” — George Bernard Shaw
This is so true and explains why successive Governments seem to misjudge the public mood. It takes courage to stand and speak but it also takes courage to sit and listen. Governments have had many “listening exercises”. Do they HEAR too? Communication is a two way process and just spouting the same old “lessons will be learned” is meaningless unless we can see evidence of how the learning has occurred!
Well said George Bernard Shaw!!
Thanks very much for the comment, Dee. Let’s hope that governments everywhere start to heed your words.
So few words written and yet the truth within them could be endlessly expounded. Experience is teaching me exactly this, every day and I am learning to notice … finally. Thank you for a quote from one of my favorite teachers; oh yes, Shaw is one of mine too.
Thanks for the comment, Cindy. Shaw was one of the greats for sure.
