I would like to add that being ourselves is a path with a destination, not a state. While interacting with others, those around us touch and shape us, just as well as we shape others around us. Even our brain structures are affected by interaction.
What I want to add is: Think about the person you want to be. Surround yourself with persons who will support you to grow accordingly. And again, Toastmasters is not too bad a place to start looking. 🙂
Sylvia, thanks so much for the thoughtful comment. I hope that others take the time to read and benefit from it. I am sorry that you were not at the conference in Bonn the other weekend, but John brought me up to date with all of the exciting things that you are doing at the moment. Congratulations! I wish you much success and hope that our paths cross again soon.
It has been my experience through Toastmasters to be more myself and less the image of what I thought I should be….great quote from a genuine speaker.
