Maya Angelou (1928 – 2014) American Poet, Author, Singer, Dancer and Actress
I still remember Maya’s book from my freshman days at Ohio Wesleyan, I’d rather be black than female, how deep is that? And how much has changed since those days in the US, I wonder? Or is being black worse than being female now or is it still a double burden as at the time Maya wrote the book?
Thanks for the comment, Christina. Being neither black nor female nor American, it is difficult for me to know. But you raise very interesting questions.
