I recently had the pleasure of spending 10 days in Barcelona for work and pleasure. The first week was spent at IESE Business School where, once or twice a year, I join four others to teach public speaking and communication skills to the class of IESE’s Executive MBA Programme.
The week is always intense and rewarding. This year, 117 students were challenged, pushed and stretched to become better speakers and better leaders. The growth, in skills and confidence, that we see in the students in such a short time is always inspiring. The public speaking lessons will last them a lifetime.
But the week is also inspiring because I get to spend it with four great friends for whom public speaking excellence is just one of their many talents: Tony Anagor; Florian Mueck; Conor Neill; and Tobias Rodrigues. Our many conversations are thought-provoking and motivating.
Conor is an expert on video blogging and when we get together at IESE, we always shoot some educational videos. But this time, there was something new. Conor recently received a drone as a birthday present. And this meant one thing: gratuitous drone footage!
In the video below, Florian, Tobias, Tony and I share four public speaking lessons to help you empower your speaking and communication. Specifically, we discuss:
- effective gestures
- powerful pauses
- empowering feedback
- intentional communication
Hi John,
As usual always presenting a great content. …The video is awesome. It is so awesome that it can actually be considered as a training materials. One of my relatives was on that MBA course, his name is Ahmed Ben Musa, not sure if you met him.
Helmi
By the way, I came second on the international speech contest – Division C (Netherlands). I hoped i would win it and qualify for the District 59 and then to Vancouver but hopefully next year.
Hope to see you,
Salam for now
Hi Helmi. Glad you liked the video. It was fun to do. I did not meet Ahmed.
Congratulations on your success at Division. Well done and there is always another contest just around the corner!
